The coil car will hold a single coil placed on it by a crane or forklift. The coil car will traverse the coil and position it into the correct height, ready to be loaded onto the mandrel. It stabilises and centres the coil, using a V-shaped platform, ensuring smooth, damage-free transfer and minimising manual handling.
This improves line efficiency, operator safety, and eliminates waiting time between coil changeovers. Coil cars are hydraulically powered for lift and traverse and feature anti-tip arms for narrow width coils.
Capacity and Capabilities
Coil cars can handle coil weights between 3000kg and 25,000kg, coil O/D’s between 1,000mm and 2,000mm, and coil widths between 100mm-2,000mm.
Applications
The coil car can be used to meet a variety of applications, including:
- Coil transport and storage.
- Combined with a coil capstan and a double-sided coil holder, the operator can store coils for a whole shift without using the crane.
- With some modifications, the platform can also be used as an aid to threading up or recoiling part coils
