Rhodes Interform has a successful history of designing and manufacturing hot platen presses, utilising various heating mediums such as steam, water, thermal fluid, and electrical. The heating system depends on the maximum temperature and accuracy requirements.
Rhodes Interform composite moulding presses are heavy-duty, typically hydraulic presses, designed for forming high performance composite component and metal/composite laminates that can be used by various industries.
Manufactured from solid steel plate
The platens are manufactured from solid steel plate as opposed to fabricated construction, to ensure high resistance to distortion and thermal shock. An Insulation board, with excellent thermal properties, and cooling plate, with serpentine flow path for chilled water, are placed between the platen and press structure to eliminate residual heat transfer.
Accurately machined
The platens, which can be various sizes ranging from 0.3m x 0.3m and up to 10m x 2.0m are accurately machined and ground flat and parallel.
Benefits
- Accurate temperature control
- Flatness/parallel platform for accepting tooling or flat panel products.
- Flatness/parallel accuracy during the pressing cycle.
- Creates strong, durable components
- Ideal for creating high-strength/lightweight components
Applications
Helicopter rotor blades, aircraft floor panels, bulkhead panels, Interior structural wall panels, and aircraft engine nacelles
Being such a cost-effective and efficient method of producing high volumes of components, composite presses are popular with industries such as aerospace, automotive, sports and recreation, marine, and construction,.
